Week of May 11
One of the most beautiful Easter stories occurs in Luke's Gospel on Easter Sunday afternoon. Two disciples are walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus (24:13-5).
They wanted Jesus to be the redeemer but figured that death on a cross meant he wasn't. Jesus opened their eyes to the Scriptures as they walked along.
Only when they broke bread at table, did those two disciples recognize Jesus. Luke's audience would have understood "breaking bread" as a reference to the Eucharist, the Mass. Are we open to the food which Jesus offers?
